Dean started his passion for rebuilding starters and alternators in 1981. In 1985 Dean graduated from Penco Tech with an associates degree in electronic engineering. He started working at Generator & Starter Exchange in 1985 and in 2014 had the opportunity to become the new owner after the prior owner retired.
